The NFF has announced that the Super Eagles will delay its flight to Belgium in preparation for friendlies against Congo and Cameroon.

The delay was caused by international passports of players and officials which are still at the Embassy of Belgium in Abuja.

Super Eagles’ Team Administrator, Enebi Achor on Friday October 3 said the embassay had asked for additional documents late on Wednesday and and as Thursday was public holiday, the documents were taken to the Embassy on Friday.

He told thenff.com, “We had booked tickets on Lufthansa Airline for the delegation to travel from Abuja to Frankfurt on Sunday, but that can no longer happen as the passports are still at the Embassy of Belgium.

“As things stand now, we can only leave for Frankfurt on Monday evening, to arrive in Belgium on Tuesday, if the visas are issued on Monday.”

The delay means home –based professionals Femi Thomas, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Austin Oboroakpo, Paul Onobi, Prince Aggrey and Chima Akas will have a day less to train with the group before Thursday’s clash with the Leopards of Democratic Republic of Congo in Vise, Liege.

NFF officials also questioned why the embassy asked for passports late on Wednesday, September 30, when the international passports had been submitted nine days earlier.

The Super Eagles face DR Congo and Cameroon, on October 8 and 11 respectively. The two matches will be played in Belgium.

In a related development, Nigeria has moved up one place in the latest FIFA rankings which was announced the same day the nation was celebrating its independence day on October 1, 2015.
