Senator Ayo Fasanmi, one of the heroes who fought for the Independence of Nigeria alongside the likes of Obafemi Awolowo was recently celebrated in Lagos by prominent sons of the Yoruba land for his illustrious contributions to the nation’s development.

Recognising the pivotal role he played in Nigeria’s history, friends and well-wishers of the senator organised a lecture at the Banquet hall of the Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos on September 30, to highlight the crucial role he and other Yoruba’s have played in nation building. Hosting the Yoruba Leadership Summit (4th) edition which featured the topic Orile Ede Yoruba Ana Oni ati Ola, prominent Yoruba heroes who one way or the other, contributed to nation building were mentioned.

At the occasion, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode who was represented by Adeyemi Folarin, the permanent secretary of the ministry of information eulogized Pa Fasanmi as a man who has contributed his own quarter to the Nation development and who lives a modest life.
On his part, Otunba Henry Ajomole, the APC state chairman, Lagos said it was necessary for us to continue to celebrate our leaders when they are alive, not waiting till they are dead. He added that Pa Ayo Fasanmi who turned 90 was an example for youths to follow.
