The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed its heartbreak over the loss of a former presidential aspirant, Gamaliel Onosode, who died in the early hours of Tuesday, September 29, 2015.
According to a press statement issued by the party’s national publicity secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, Onosode was a great Nigerian and a highly respected statesman who contributed in no small way to Nigeria’s political development.

The statement read: “The Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus, on behalf of the National Executive Committee (NEC) and the PDP family nationwide mourns the death of one of Nigeria’s foremost technocrats, Mr. Gamaliel Offoritsenere Onosode.
“The PDP is indeed deeply saddened by the loss of this great Nigerian, a highly respected statesman and organized corporate administrator who made immense contributions towards the economic and political development of our dear nation.
“Our hearts and thoughts go out to the Onosode family as we pray God to give them the fortitude to bear this great loss.”
Until his death, Onosode, who was a devout Christian held many administrative posts and was also a presidential adviser on Budget Affairs and Director of Budget (1983) to President Shagari.
