As the ‘giant of Africa’ turns 55 on October 1 2015, Nigerians have begun to count their blessings despite the country is yet to rightly attain her full position amongst countries of the world.
However, just hours to the D-day, citizens have started to patronize anything in ‘green and white’. It is so evident that people will always come out to show their love for the country. From a random interview with some Nigerians by Naij.com in Lagos, it is evident that they want the president to focus more on corruption.

Mene Blessing who is a laureate for the international youth foundation in the United States revealed that Nigeria is such a blessing to this world and encouraged fellow citizens to continue to support President Muhammadu Buhari.
He said: “We are going through a developmental stage which is unique to us as a nation. At 55, we are not where we are supposed to be, but we are not where we used to be and there has been a lot of progress. We have a new president who happens to be a man of integrity, I think there is a redefinition of politics and to me it is cool.”

The Delta state born writer also urged the president to focus more on corruption.
“I think the president should continue to focus on corruption and he has set a good example on that. He is really sanitizing the system. Every president has what they want to achieve. So far, Buhari is doing well and should focus on what he is already doing. If the leadership is right, everything will work well,” he concluded.
Also, Nwankwo Dick who resides in Lagos praised the new administration. “The new government has brought about change. Infact in my area, for over two weeks now, there has been constant power supply. One thing is, Buhari cannot do it alone, and he needs our support. I love this country.

“I have been to many countries in Africa; you can’t compare them with us. Nigeria is very rich. I just want Buhari to help us stop corruption. That’s what I like about him. God will help him.”
Nigeria gained her independence from the British government on October 1, 1960.
