Players like Adaora Elonu, Helen Ogunjimi and Olayinka Sanni also lived up to expectations.
D’Tigress only need a win against Algeria in their final group game on Tuesday to win the group, irrespective of what Angola and Egypt can do against Guinea and Senegal respectively.
The Angolans, who beat Nigeria 57-51 in their opening match on Friday, September 25, stumbled to a 52-53 lost to Egypt.
Nigeria, Angola and Egypt are all on seven points each going into Tuesday’s games, but Nigeria have a better points difference of 87, as against 27 and 21 respectively.
A victory for Nigeria against Algeria on Tuesday will ensure the Coach Steve Nnaji led team finish top of the group.
Victory for the girls will also see them face Group A’s fourth-placed team, either Mozambique or Gabon, in Thursday’s quarter-finals.
The competition ends on Saturday, October 3 with the winners qualifying for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, Brazil.
