The parliament of Tunisia approved legislation allowing the death penalty for those convicted of terrorism offences, The Guardian reports.
Death penalty is caused by the fact that dozens of foreign visitors were killed by terrorists in the past few months . For example, in June ISIS killed 38 tourists in Tunisia while in March gunmen killed 21 foreigners in the country.
On Saturday the bill was approved by a margin of 174-0 with 10 abstentions after three days of debate.

The source notes that Human Rights Watch had criticised the bill.
The organization said: “It would open the way to prosecuting political dissent as terrorism, give judges overly broad powers and curtail lawyers’ ability to provide an effective defence”.
The Guardian explained that the new law against terrorism and money laundering permits the death penalty for terrorism-related offences such as killings of foreign visitors or of someone enjoying international protection.
