Continuous Attacks Against Tinubu Will Be The Downfall Of APC – Party Chieftain

The APC chieftain who disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, said Tinubu was the pillar of the party and if he was pushed out, APC may not live to see another election.

In reaction to the results of the National Assembly elections, he stated that the action and comments from some party groups indicate that some members within APC are out to rubbish certain leaders in the party, particularly, Tinubu who has contributed a lot to the victory of the APC in the last general elections.

He said:“The history behind the merger that later culminated in the APC is well known and well documented. The role played by Tinubu is also known to all. In whatever terms, his contributions cannot be quantified. So, efforts by anyone to rubbish his contributions will spell doom for the fortune of the party if not now but later.”

The APC chieftain also said that the decision of both Senator Bukola Saraki and Hon. Yakubu Dogara to go against the party’s directive would not project a good outcome for the party’s discipline.

In a related development, a group under the auspices of the Asiwaju Grassroots Foundation  has accused Senator Bukola Saraki and Yakubu Dogara of fueling the current crisis rocking the National Assembly.

Aregbesola Impeachment: Groups Clash In Osun

The called by Justice Folahanmi Oloyede for the Osun state House of Assembly to proceed with the impeachment of Governor Rauf Aregbesola is generating trouble as two groups, Osun Civil Societies Coalition(OCSC) and Democratic Socialist Movement  (DSM) are set to lock horn.

This called by Justice Oloyede is hinged on the governor’s inablity to pay workers’s salaries for over seven months as one of the reasons for the call for Aregbesola’s removal, The Punch reports.

The two groups expressed different views in separate statements in Osogbo on Tuesday.

In a statement issued by  OCSC Chairman, Waheed Lawal, and Secretary, Adebayo Bello, said that it had petitioned the National Judicial Council (NJC) to investigate the judge,  while the DSM said Oloyede  had done nothing wrong and she should be commended for her courage.

The Osun State Coordinator of the DSM, Mr. Alfred Adegoke, and Secretary, Mr. Kola Ibrahim, in their statement, said the judge’s petition just stated what was already known to the people of the state.

The OCSC  is of the view that the judge had brought the judiciary into ridicule by dabbling into partisan politics, while stating that her allegations against the governor were unfounded and baseless.

“It behoves us to say that the words and language in the petition are unbecoming, maladroit and ungainly for the high standard of conduct expected of any judicial officer in this country.

“The magnitude of impropriety, of the form, dimension and concealed message of the petition violates every ethical standard devoted to the status of a judicial officer.

“If appropriate action was not meted on her (Justice Folahanmi) a floodgate will be opened and every willing and available judicial officer would soon become an instrument of use for the purpose of partisan politics, “ OCSC asserted in their letter”

The statement  further stressed that choice of word used by the judge is capable of citing members of the public against Aregbesola.

This action, the group further claimed that, if the NJC does not sanctioned the judge’s action, it might led to some judges to misuse their position.

However, DSM said that Aregbesola’s adminitration reckless spending  due to the state current financial crisis.

Fresh Wave Of Protests Rocks Anambra State Over Relocation Of Boko Haram Prisoners

Reported relocation of Boko Haram prisoners to the federal prison in Ekwulobia, Aguata local government area of Anambra state, sparked a news wave of protests in the area.

 Protest Rocks Ekwulobia

This Day reports that the protesters included traditional rulers, the clergy, traders, women and youths. They took to the streets of Ekwulobia and marched peacefully to the Aguata council headquarters, then to the adjoining Oko community.

People were carrying placards which read: “Buhari don’t export terrorism to the South-east” and “Boko Haram prisoners are not wanted here”.

Business activities were paralyzed in the area as traders locked up their shops and commercial motorcyclists blared their horns in protest.

Tony Umeoji, the chairman of Aguata council area, express dissatisfaction with the decision to transfer Boko Haram terrorists to Ekwulobia prisons. According to him, it was politically motivated and aimed at stunting the development of the entire south-east.

“I must tell you that this development will chase away intending investors coming to Anambra state, thereby setting back the wheel of progress of the state.

“The people are scared and there is a general sense of insecurity in the place. The Ekwulobia prisons have not got the capacity and facility for such high-risk inmates. The prison was built to house 84 people and there are 133 inmates already, and you are adding another 47 inmates of Boko Haram extraction. That is too much and not healthy at all,” Umeoji said.

Ikem Uzozie, the lawmaker who represents Aguata II constituency in the Anambra House of Assembly, appealed to the federal government to urgently relocate the Boko Haram inmates to a prison with maximum capacity and facility. The lawyer said that the development had shattered the relative peace in the area.

In a related development, at least 22 women and girls, who were recruited to be suicide bombers, are undergoing rehabilitation.
