Why PDP Lawmakers Throw Support Behind President Buhari

The Senate minority leader said: “We are not here to play destructive opposition. We want to place on record that we support this government and would do anything constitutional to ensure the success of the administration.

“We also congratulate our president for presiding over the affairs of this country at 55, and want to use this opportunity to congratulate all Nigerians and appeal to them that they should continue to support the current administration as it strives to make life meaningful for us, even in the face of dwindling revenue.”

In line with the support for the APC-led Buhari government, the PDP had passed a veto of confidence on the embattled Senate president, Bukola Saraki, assuring that it will support him in his time of trial.

However, the PDP national publicity secretary, Olisa Metuh, had alleged that the body language of President Buhari, has showed that he will rather want to run the government as a sole administrator than appointing ministers.

But contrary to Metuh’s projection, the president had sent the list of 21 ministerial nominees to the Senate for vetting with the remaining 15 names to be cleared by the security agencies latest early next week.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian army said on thursday, October 1, that it is not in a hurry to rescue the more than 200 secondary school students who were abducted from their hostel in Chibok, Borno state, by Boko Haram fighters in April 2014.
