Six officials were sanctioned over breached public service rules.

In a statement released on Thursday August 28 and signed by the chairman, Ogun state CSC, Mrs Aderonke Folarin, the commission maintained that all the officials concerned were given the opportunity to defend themselves, both in written and oral, in line with the constitutional provision.

“The attention of the commission has been drawn to the misrepresentation and misinformation in the press on the recently sanctioned officials of the state civil service.

“The state civil service commission is an autonomous body created by Section 197 of the 1999 constitution with powers to (i) appoint persons to offices in the state civil service; and (ii) dismiss and exercise disciplinary control over persons holding such offices.

“The commission received the report of the committee set up, to look into petitions by some parents, alleging intolerable partisan political influence on their children through an examination passage.

“The petitions include alleged nexus between the examination passage and published allegations of a political party.

“All the officials concerned were given the opportunity to defend themselves both in writing and orally, in line with the constitutional provision.

“The senior officers admitted negligence and lack of discretion on their part. A case of “dishonesty” or negligence was made with reference to the origin of the exam question”, the statement read in part.

“Breach of Rule 04420 (1)(a) (b) and (d) of Public Service Rules was established.”
