Alhaji Adamu Wayya, a popular Hausa solo musician who is popular known as Dan Maraya Jos died on Saturday morning at Ola Hospital Jos at the age of 83.
The music legend who passed away after a brief illness at about 4pm and was buried at 5:30pm at Zaria bye pass burial ground left behind left behind a wife and 13 children amongst whom is Alhaji Yusuf Kuchili.

His demise attracted sympathisers and well wishers who visited his house along Bauchi road Jos after his burial. The gathering reminisced some of his numerous songs amongst them songs “Mutuwa rigar kowa” which loosely means: “death is a garment that will be worn by everyone”. His songs were known to comment on salient issues in the society and reflected the topical issues of the day.
Dan Maraya Jos received many national honours and was a recipient of a honorary Doctor of Philosophy degree alongside late MKO Abiola
Leadership reported that his first adopted son, Kuchili revealed that the music icon did not know the number of songs he had but estimated that they were more than 20 thousand in a career that spanned 73 years.
