The Abia North Senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA) in the last election, has said that all members with pending election petitions at the tribunal should be given half pay.

Onuoha-Bourdex, made the call in an interview with National Assembly reporters.

He argued that “given the financial profile of the country and the fact that most of those facing the election petition tribunal would lose their seats, it would be proper to withhold half of the emoluments payable to members

He further pointed out that: “since it may not be possible for the country to get the members with disputed mandates to refund the unmerited wages and allowances,

the ideal thing to do was to leave the embattled legislators with half pay pending the determination of their cases.”

Dr. Onuoha-Bourdex, who currently is contesting the election of Mao Ohuabunwa as the winner of the March 28, 2015 senatorial election, disclosed that evidence had already  started emerging.

He said that: “most of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) NASS candidates in South East geopolitical zone, did not win the majority of lawful votes in the ballot.”

He referenced a petition at the first Anambra Election Petition Tribunal, where the PDP candidate for Anaocha/Njikoka/Dunukofia federal constituency, Dr. Nnamdi Eze, allegedly confessed that his APGA counterpart, Mr. Dozie Nwankwo, actually won the election.

Onuoha-Bourdex urged NASS members who gained victory by the crook to toe the path of honour.

He praised Eze and Anambra PDP for acknowledging the obvious, and went on to say“there is a high probability that lawmakers who cheated their way into the federal legislature could be among those fueling the ongoing leadership crisis in the National Assembly.”

Onuoha-Bourdex stressed that it is no news that PDP rigged most of its candidates into office, in a vain effort to strengthen former President Goodluck Jonathan’s election.

He added that: “The true situation of things in the South East was that PDP lost the election due to imposition of unpopular candidates.”

The telecommunications expert expressed the desire that before the six month period allotted to election petitions expires, the people of Abia North Senatorial district would begin to reap the benefits of their popular choice.

Stating categorically that though his plans to uplift the senatorial district was being delayed, he remains confident of reclaiming his mandate.

The crisis in the National Assembly over leadership in the chambers continues to rage by the day, and many Nigerians are beginning to voice out and insist that it is high time President Muhammadu Buhari broke his silence and intervened.

The eradication of corruption from the Nigeria is a major watchword for the present dispensation, the people are watching, ever keen to see how far the current administration will go to make good its promise.
