British weekly magazine The Times Higher Education (THE) has published the list of 800 best universities around the world.

American universities still dominate in the THE World University Rankings 2015-2016. Among 147 US universities featured in the top 800, the California Institute of Technology claims pole position for the fifth year.
Top-10 includes six American universities, three UK institutions and Zurich-Swiss Federal Institute of Technology.
Nigerian university also features in the list: University of Ibadan, Oyo state, is in a group with educational institutions, which rank from 601 to 800.
The THE World University Rankings use 13 performance indicators to examine universities’ strengths. According to the researchers, carefully calibrated performance indicators provide the most comprehensive and balanced comparisons, trusted by students, academics, university leaders, industry and even governments.

The performance indicators are grouped into five areas: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.
See a total score for the University of Ibadan:
- Teaching (the learning environment) – 22,7
- Research (volume, income and reputation) – 11,1
- Citations (research influence) – 4,6
- International outlook (staff, students and research) – 26,1
- Industry income (knowledge transfer) – 29,2
Overall, institutions from 70 countries, 29 more than last year, feature in this year’s rankings, with several countries including Indonesia, Bangladesh and Kenya being represented for the first time.
